Football betting rules at Gursha Bet

This page explains the main Gursha Bet football betting rules and how a football bet settlement is normally determined. It covers 90 minutes, extra time, penalty shootouts, postponed and cancelled matches, live events, odds changes, official data, and selected special markets. These football betting rules in Ethiopia are general guidance only; the market name, bet slip, applicable terms, and event-specific conditions always need to be checked before confirming a bet.

Gursha Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. If a general explanation differs from the wording shown for a particular market, the specific market conditions take priority. A bet is not final merely because a selection has been entered. It becomes an accepted bet only after the system confirms it.

Standard settlement time: 90 minutes

Unless the market says otherwise, most football bets are settled on the result after 90 minutes of play plus the referee's added time, also called stoppage time. Added time is part of the normal match period. It is not the same as extra time, which is played after the scheduled match has finished.

This is the usual basis for 90 minutes football betting and for markets such as Match Result or 1X2, Double Chance, Total Goals, Handicap, and Both Teams to Score. A goal scored in the referee's stoppage time can therefore affect these markets. Extra time and a penalty shootout normally do not affect them unless the displayed rules expressly include those periods.

  • Match Result / 1X2: normally the score at the end of regulation time and stoppage time.
  • Double Chance: normally settled on the same full-time result.
  • Totals and Handicap: normally use events from the standard match period only.
  • Both Teams to Score: normally considers goals scored during the standard period.

Before placing a bet, read whether the market says “90 minutes,” “full time,” “including extra time,” or uses another specific settlement description.

When extra time counts

Extra time football betting is different from a standard Match Result market. Extra time is usually considered only when the market clearly refers to it, for example by using wording such as “including extra time,” “to qualify,” “winner of tie,” “team to lift the trophy,” or “outright winner.” The applicable competition and market rules may also explain whether a penalty shootout is included.

For example, a selection on Team A to win an ordinary 1X2 market may lose if the score is level after 90 minutes and Team A wins during extra time. A selection on Team A to qualify may be settled in Team A's favour if the team progresses after extra time or penalties, provided that the market rules include those methods of deciding the tie.

Do not infer the settlement period from the competition format alone. Check the market title and the conditions attached to the bet slip.

How penalties are settled

The phrase “penalties” can describe two different events. A penalty kick awarded and taken during normal play or extra time is a match event. A penalty shootout takes place after the match and extra time have ended. These events are not treated in the same way under penalty shootout betting rules.

  • A penalty scored during the included match period can affect goals markets for that period.
  • Goals scored in a penalty shootout usually do not count towards standard Total Goals markets.
  • A shootout may determine a To Qualify, trophy, or outright winner market when the market rules say it does.
  • A 90-minute market is not changed by the shootout unless its specific conditions provide a different basis.

For example, if a match is 0–0 after the standard period and Team B wins the shootout, an Over 0.5 Total Goals selection for 90 minutes normally does not win because the shootout is outside the stated settlement period.

Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches

A cancelled football match bet can require a different result from a bet on a match that has already produced a definite outcome. If a match is cancelled before kick-off, it may be declared void and the stake may be returned, unless a specific rule provides another treatment. A postponed football match betting outcome may depend on whether the event is played within the time limit stated in the applicable Gursha Bet rules.

Gursha Bet's exact time limits should be checked in the current Terms and Conditions and event rules. This page does not create a fixed 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, next-day, or competition-round deadline. If a postponed or abandoned match is not completed within the applicable period, the related bets may be cancelled or void, subject to any market that was already unambiguously decided.

Special care may be required when:

  • the match does not start;
  • the match starts but is abandoned before completion;
  • the remaining minutes are played at a later date;
  • the event is listed with the wrong date, teams, competition, or market;
  • an official result is corrected after the final whistle.

Some markets may already have a settled outcome before an interruption, while others may need the complete event. The result shown in the account history should be read together with the relevant market rule rather than assumed from the match status alone.

Live football betting settlement

Live football betting rules apply while an event is in progress. Prices can move quickly, and a submitted selection may be held briefly while the system checks the latest event information. A goal, red card, penalty, VAR review, or dangerous attacking move can cause a market suspension or make the displayed odds unavailable.

A live bet may be accepted at a changed price, rejected, or remain pending until the event information is confirmed. An entry sent at the same time as a goal or other material incident may therefore not receive the price visible a moment earlier. See Gursha Bet live for the live betting area and any information displayed with the event.

Only an accepted bet is normally eligible for settlement. If the system has not confirmed the bet, do not treat the selection as active simply because it appeared on screen. Review the bet status and receipt in the account before relying on it.

Odds changes and bet confirmation

A football odds change may occur before a selection is accepted. When this happens, the system can show the new odds for confirmation or reject the submission if the price is no longer available. The original displayed price is not necessarily the final price.

Always check the team or player, market type, settlement period, selection, stake, and odds in the bet slip before pressing the confirmation button. This is especially important for live football, where events can change the market between selection and acceptance. A rejected bet is not the same as an accepted bet that later loses, and a cancelled bet is not automatically evidence of a winning or losing result.

VAR, official data and result corrections

Video Assistant Referee reviews can change whether a goal, penalty, red card, or other event is recognised. Markets may be suspended while the review is in progress. Settlement can then depend on the confirmed official event record rather than an initial television graphic, temporary score, or unofficial report.

An overturned goal may be removed from a totals or scorer calculation. A confirmed penalty or card may affect an appropriate market if that market includes the relevant period and event. If an official source later changes a result or event record, Gursha Bet will apply its published policies, including the published Terms and Conditions. Where the data is unclear, contact support before treating the settlement as final.

Player, cards and corners markets

Special markets can have conditions that are not shared by Match Result or totals. For cards, check whether the market counts only players on the pitch or also includes coaches, substitutes, or bench personnel. For corners, the relevant rule may require corners to be officially awarded and taken rather than merely indicated by a live feed.

A player market may be void if the selected player does not take part, but this depends on the specific Gursha Bet rule. Player goals and player statistics also require careful checking. An own goal is generally not credited as a goal by the player who scored it for scorer markets unless the applicable rules state otherwise.

Because cards, corners, player markets, and scorer markets can differ, check the specific market rules before placing a bet. The market description and bet slip are the safest sources for the conditions that apply to that selection.

Examples of football bet settlement

Scenario 1: Team A and Team B are level 1–1 after 90 minutes. Team A wins 2–1 in extra time.

Settlement: A standard 1X2 selection on Team A normally loses because that market uses 90 minutes plus stoppage time. A market expressly covering the winner after extra time may settle differently.

Scenario 2: The score is 0–0 after the standard match period. Team B wins the penalty shootout.

Settlement: An Over 0.5 Total Goals selection for 90 minutes normally loses. A To Qualify selection on Team B may win if the market includes the shootout.

Scenario 3: A scheduled match is cancelled before the teams enter the field.

Settlement: The related bet may be void with a refund stake where the applicable rules provide that treatment. The current event conditions and any completion deadline must be checked.

Scenario 4: A live selection is submitted during a VAR review after a possible goal.

Settlement: The bet may remain pending while the incident is checked, be accepted at updated odds, or be rejected if the market was suspended before acceptance.

Scenario 5: Team C is selected in a “To Qualify” market and progresses after extra time and penalties.

Settlement: The selection may be settled as a win when the market expressly includes those methods of qualification. The same outcome should not automatically be applied to a 90-minute Match Result market.

Responsible football betting

Football betting should be entertainment, not a way to earn money or recover losses. Only adults who are legally permitted to use betting services should place bets. Set a budget before playing, use available limits or breaks, and stop if betting is no longer enjoyable or controlled.

Information about pauses, self-exclusion, and support is available through Responsible Gaming. Age-related requirements are explained in the Age Restriction Policy. If you have questions about a bet status or settlement, use the available support channel rather than placing additional bets to resolve the issue.
